Makeup Brand Pronunciation Guide

If you're like me, it gets hard to constantly sift through all the brands, still remember how to spit out a name, and not sound like an idiot while doing it. I'm no pronunciation wizard and lets be honest - I am doing this post as much for my own reference as I am to be helpful to you. So, without further ado, here is how to pronounce some brands that twist up the tongue. May you never feel shame at the makeup counter again!

How to pronounce it: [ stee-lah ] (not still-ah)

L'Occitane en Provence
How to pronounce it: [ lox-ee-tahn uhn pruh-vaunce ]
Guerlain
How to pronounce it: [ gerr-lahn ] (the n is mostly silent)

Chantecaille
How to pronounce it: [ shan-tuh-kigh ]

Shu Uemura
How to pronounce it: [ shoe oo-eh-moor-ah ] (also, according to the company: "if you want to be really authentic, soften the R and make more of a D sound.")

Borghese 
How to pronounce it: [ bor-gay-zeh ]

Sheiseido
How to pronounce it: [ sheh-say-doe ]

Givenchy
How to pronounce it: [ jhee-von-shee ]

How to pronounce it: [ nicks ] (not N.Y.X.)
